With every day that passes, it is becoming increasingly clear that the pandemic-restrictions are well behind us. The streets are buzzing and life is surely returning to normal. Many activities that had previously stalled due to the pandemic are slowly making a come-back. One event that has become a staple in the financial sector is the Annual Insurance Brokers Association of Uganda (IBAU) Conference. This year’s edition, the 4th Annual IBAU Conference is to take place on 7th April at Munyonyo Speke Resort. It will be running under the theme “The Role of Insurance in rebuilding the post-pandemic economy”.

The 3rd Annual IBAU Conference took place last year on 8th April at Protea Hotel under the theme “Navigating Risk in Today’s Changing World”. While it was hugely successful, it was a hybrid event that saw about 70 people attend physically while over 300 people attended online via zoom due to the COVID-19 restrictions. Thanks to the “opening of the economy”, this year’s conference is to be primarily a physical one. In line with the theme, the conference seeks to highlight how insurance is an integral piece of the economic recovery puzzle.
Judging from the attention it is drawing, this year’s edition of the IBAU Conference promises to be bigger as it has attracted a myriad of speakers & panelists from numerous sector industries like Banking, IT, Government, Tourism, Agriculture among others. “We are all looking forward to plugging the economic holes drilled by the COVID-19 Pandemic” says Mr. Christopher Bakesiga, Business Manager, Insurance Brokers Association of Uganda. He goes on to express his optimism regarding the economy bouncing back from pandemic shock.
Honorable Amos Lugolobi, State Minister for Planning will be the Guest of Honor of the 4th IBAU Annual Conference and just like its predecessors, the conference is attracting interest from the entire region with the Association of Insurance Brokers of Kenya (AIBK) President poised to be a discussant.

The Insurance Brokers Association of Uganda is the umbrella body that brings together all the licensed insurance brokers in Uganda. It is charged with ensuring professional & ethical practice of insurance brokers whilst advocating for a conducive operation environment for them.
